Co-Curriculum

School today in no longer confined to class room instruction. We believe that school is about more than academic lessons and qualifications. Many of the most important lessons are those which students learn as part of team games, cross fertilizations of ideas, competitions and collaborative work.

To pave the way for such non-cognitive learning we organize a variety of competitions and cultural events which also support formal learning. A sense of belonging and loyalty are promoted in the students by dividing them into four different houses namely, Ganga, Chenab, Ravi & Chenab. Inter house competitions such as debate, recitation, fancy dress, group song, folk dance, rangoli, art and craft etc. provide learning experiences which enrich the educational and social development of the students.

Special morning assemblies arranged house wise on rotational basis is a forum for the students to address a large audience and express themselves. Every student is encouraged to participate indiscriminately with the intention of nurturing and developing inner talents. Conducting activity clubs allows the learners to pursue any interest of their choice.

Hand in hand with class-room education, such events provide the students with an chance to be part of a broad spectrum of activities which further the development of the “Complete Being”.

  • “The earth reveals its innocence through the smiles of children”

    Food fair with Fun games was organized to mark the birth anniversary of first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru celebrated as Children’s Day. The Fete was organized at DPS Civil Lines Aligarh premises on 14th November, Monday to celebrate Children’s Day. The fete began at 9:30 a.m. and continued till 2:30 p.m. The programme began with lighting of the lamp and garlanding the photo of Pt Jawaharlal Nehru by Mrs. Rajani Singh, principal DPS CL Aligarh. The Food Fair was inaugurated by Mr. Swapnil Jain, Pro Vice Chairman, DPS Civil Lines Aligarh Thereafter Celebrations began with a prayer service and greeting song presented by teachers. After the Formal declaration of Fun , Frolic Food Fair by the Principal the school premises were abuzz with activities.

    Various stalls of food items and fun games were put up by enthusiastic students of different Houses. The fun fete had more than 21 beautifully decorated stalls of food and games. It was a festive atmosphere with children accompanied by their parents, articipating in various activities.

    Talent is a skill that someone has to do something very well that people usually like. It is an ability that someone is born with. Talents may be entertaining, beautiful or impressive for different reasons. The fete also featured Talent Show for parents along with their wards comprising Dance Competition and Karaoke Singing Competition.

    There were just a few of the efforts being undertaken by the school under Wall of Kindness to render some help to those in need, demonstrating that bringing up children with strong morals and values is as important a part of education as the content of their textbooks..

    An array of stalls with mouth-watering food items like ice cream, momos, noodles, pastries, cakes, pizzas, burgers, cold drink, idli sambar and exciting games like throwing ring, spinning the wheel, breaking the pyramid, other entertainment programmes and surprising gifts were the main attraction of the fete.

  • RUN FOR UNITY 2022-23

    Delhi Public School Civil Lines, Aligarh, organised “Run For Unity” on 31 October 2022 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first Home Minister and the ‘Iron Man’ of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Hundreds of students and several teaching and non-teaching staff of the School enthusiastically participated in it.

    The event started at 7 AM with an address by the school Principal, Ms. Rajani Singh. In her short speech, She remembered Sardar Patel’s legacy and commended his tenuous efforts in integrating over 565 princely states into the Union of India with his astute administrative abilities and iron will. She remarked that Sardar Patel was one of the founding fathers of India who was solely responsible for the unification of Modern India that earns him the title, the ‘Bismarck of India’. She reiterated that the young citizens and the staff of the School must ensure that the unity of the nation remains intact at all cost. Furthermore, she promised that School will organise several programmes every year to mark his legacy. Later, Students administered by principal DPS Civil Lines took the pledge to protect the integrity of India under “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas”.

    After the pledge, the unity march proceeded from school ground to school pathways, filling the air in school with fervour, pride and joy of togetherness.

  • INTER HOUSE COMPETITION (CHARACTER DEPICTION & KAVI SAMMELAN) 2022-23
  • An Inter house Character depiction competition was held for classes 3 to 5. Theme was (legends/Mythological). Students were dressed in flamboyant attires. They spell bound the audience with their innocence and confidence. All the participants performed with enthusiasm and zeal. Each child had a prop and enacted the character. Lot of creativity was displayed by the participants. Participants were appreciated by Honorable Principal madam for their beautiful presentation.

    An inter house Hindi kavi sammelan was held for classes 6 to 8 in which students recited hilarious poems on various social topics like price rise corruption politics. The winners were judged based on parameters like creativity, comic elements, time length of the poem presentation skill etc. With the lot of amusement students forfeited a social message for the audience.All the participants were appreciated by the honorable Principal Madam for presenting the poems confidently.

  • INTER SCHOOL DEBATE COMPETITION 2022-23
  • “Delibereation and debate is the way we stir the soul of our democracy.”

    An Inter-School Debate Competition was held at Delhi Public School Civil Lines, Aligarh on 19th October, 2022 in collaboration with Hubs of Learning. Students from Ankur Public School, Brij Bharti School, Blue Bird Senior Secondary school, Brilliant Public School, DKSM Sr Secondary School and Delhi Public School Civil Lines took part in the competition taking the topic as “Modern thinking of youth is a challenge to preserve Indian Value System”. Debate is one the academic activities that give participants a creative room to express what they feel, and the 12 participants did it really well.

    Program had some soul enthralling dance and song presentations. Dr Neeta, Head of the English Dept., SV Degree College, Aligarh and Dr Mamta Srivastava Asst Professor Shri Tikaram Kanya Mahavidhyala were the esteemed judges for the event. Delhi Public School Civil Lines stood first in the competition followed by Brilliant Public School and Blue Bird Sr Sec School as second and third respectively. Dignified judges and Respected Madam Principal Ms Rajani Singh appreciated the efforts of the students and shared their inputs on the topic of debate. The program concluded with national anthem.

  • DIWALI CELEBRATION 2022-23
  • A special assembly was conducted in the School ground by Chenab House on the topic of the festival of lights - Diwali. The objective of the assembly was to make the students aware of this festival - why and how it is celebrated. The assembly commenced with prayer, its meaning, thought, news update, group song, solo performance and group dance on foot tapping number.

    The students heralded the festival of lights, Diwali, by presenting a cultural extravaganza with a lot of joy and enthusiasm whereinthe whole school set in the mood of festivity by invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesh, Goddess Laxmi and Lord Ram.A mesmerising song was presented by the students. The informative speech motivated the students to celebrate clean and eco-friendly Diwali.The Poem Presented by student depicted glimpses of Ramayana

    A captivating dance performance was the bonus bonanza of the day. The School Principal, Mrs Rajani Singh with her wordsof wisdom,wished all the students a very happy and a prosperous Diwali.
